Building bridges in traumatic brain injury

research
collaborating to solve a complex
clinical disease
In collaboration with the Department of Neurological
Surgery, PM&R hosted a symposium event centered
on cross-discipline solutions for traumatic brain injury.
Featuring speakers with national prominence in the
field of traumatic brain injury research, the event
highlighted a wide range of topics including psychedelics, mental health, biomarkers, neurotrauma effects
on cognition, epilepsy, non-invasive neuromodulation,
and critical care.

Nicholas Race moderated the final session of the
event: Personalized Medicine Approach to TBI
Treatment and Rehabilitation. Amy Wagner, physiatrist
from the University of Pittsburgh, presented her
research on rehabilomics and the precision medicine
approach to optimizing function after acquired brain
injury. Race led the second presentation, ocusing on
practical reanalysis of existing clinical finformation to
steer individualized outcomes in neurotrauma.

presentation on integrating culture, technology,
and healing, emphazing the significance of
individualized approaches to care for those with
traumatic brain injury.
